Recycling News:

Our fall electronics recycling drive ended September 25th. Contact Autumn or Erin at 424-7738 for information about the next e-cycle drive. Plastics recycling is now open! Bring your clean #1 and #2 bottles and jugs to the conex boxes behind NVE. Please, no lids or plastic bags in the recycle bins.


Recycling is good for the economy and good for the environment. It creates jobs and extends the life of our landfill. For more information, contact Autumn at 424-7738.

Gillnet, seine web, and leadline Redden Marine, the Harbormaster, Alaska Fisherman’s Camp, & the City Baler Clean web and remove non-nylon materials. Put netting and lines in the correct container. NO LINES in the web container - it causes the entire bin to be discarded.
Aluminum cans Labeled dumpster at the Post Office Empty and clean cans. If you want to crush them to save space, you can, but you don’t need to. Please, NO BAGS in the dumpster.
Alkaline batteries Battery box at the Post Office  
Printer cartridges and toners The Native Village of Eyak & The Family Resource Drop off small inkjet cartridges at NVE or The Family Resource anytime. Please wait until NVE holds an electronics recycling drive to drop off large copier/ printer toners and cartridges.
Electronics, such as computers, printers, TVs, stereos, VCR/ DVDs, microwaves, phones, and cameras The Native Village of Eyak NVE holds electronics recycling drives 3-4 times a year. Look for advertisments around town, on the radio or scanner, or an announcement on this website for the
next e-cycle drive. NO LARGE APPLIANCES.
Car batteries NAPA Drop off at NAPA customer service desk during business hours or behind NAPA after hours.
Grocery bags AC Value Center Make sure bags are clean, and #2 or #4 (look for the plastics symbol, a number inside a triangle, on the side of the bag).
Compact flourescent lightbulbs (CFLs) The Native Village of Eyak & Cordova Electric Cooperative Drop off at CEC anytime or at NVE during an electronics recycling drive. If the CFL is broken, wear gloves while handling it, throw out any clothing that came in contact, and double bag in ziplock bags before turning it in.
#1 & #2 Plastics Conex boxes behind the Native Village of Eyak Clean bottles and remove labels if
possible. Separate into #1 and #2 plastics. Look for the plastics symbol on the bottom of the container - a number inside a triangle. NO BAGS in the conexes.
