CARE: Community Action for a Renewed Environment
NVE was the only tribe in region 10 awarded a Community Action for a Renewed Envionment (CARE) grant last year. We are lucky to have this funding to help us achieve our goal to eliminate toxins in our environment and become a sustainable community! Please come out to the CARE workshops and share your concerns. Meetings are free to the public, and we have snacks! See calendar for the next workshop.

1/7/2012 The CARE workgroup has voted to work together on the following environmental concerns. As a workgroup, we will divide and conquer these topics by researching the topics and creating a environmental health profile specific to the problem as how it relates to our community. These profiles will help us determine what has been done, what could be done, and what we should do with our Level II funding, if rewarded. Everybody, not just our core workgroup members, are encouraged to participate in this activity if they are knowledgeable and passionate about a subject of concern.
- Water Quality (groundwater, surface water, stormwater pollution, and Odiak Pond)
- Garbage (trash, litter, abandoned vehicles, and ill-disposed animal carcasses)
- Oil Contamination ( leaking and old fuel tnaks, oil spills, bioaccumulation, and unreported spills)
- Solid Waste (old landfills, burn pile, drum dumps, Hollis Henrichs Park and baseball fields)
